All the Japanese DLC for Project Diva F 2nd Confirmed for Release in the West

Sega has revealed that the upcoming release of Project Diva F 2nd in North America and Europe will be followed by plenty of DLC content. Well over $100 worth of DLC will be made available for purchase during the six months following the game’s release. Sega has also unveiled two sales initiatives called the Song Club and Costume Club, which offer access to DLC bundles for a discounted price. Essentially these seem to be the equivalent of a Season Pass. Sega says buying these bundles will be more than 25% cheaper than buying all the DLC individually.

Purchasing the Song Club bundle means that you’ll receive all the Rhythm Game Songs that will be published after the game’s release. It’s worth noting that not all of the DLC has already been released in Japan at this point, so we don’t know how many songs will be released exactly. Sega promises it will be well over ten songs in total. Over at the EU Sony PSN blog, Sam Mullen mentioned that “to date, Japan has announced Yellow, Change Me, Look This Way Baby, Ai Kotoba, and Sekiranun Graffiti as DLC songs, and there are still months of content to come!”. The price of the bundle is set at US $29.99 / €24,99 / £19.99. Individually, the DLC songs will cost $2.99 / €2.49 / £1.99.

Similarly, the Costume Club bundle grants you access to more than 45 costumes for a price of $69.99 / €49,99/ £39.99. Individually, the costumes will cost $1.99 / €1.49 / £1.19.

So what does this mean for people who want to buy the game and all the DLC? Let’s compare the US and EU prices for the game and the DLC bundles:

Content USD EU EU price compared to US*
Full game $49.99 €49,99 +26%
Costume Club DLC $69.99 €49,99 -29%
Song Club DLC $29.99 €24,99 +5%

* Calculated with the current conversion ratio (€1 = $1.26)

In the US, buying both DLC bundles will cost you double the amount you paid for the game itself. As you can see from the list above, there’s a somewhat odd price difference between the Costume bundle in the US and the EU. The EU prices for games and DLC are almost always higher than the US ones, and this goes for most of the Project Diva F 2nd content as well. There’s an exception here however, because the Costume Club is no less than 29% cheaper in the EU than in the US. Buying both the game and the bundles will cost you €124,97 in the EU, and $149.79 in the US. Those prices are close to equal, so despite the price difference between the individual content, all the content put together will cost about the same in the US and the EU.

Sam Mullen has also revealed additional info on the PSN Blog (some of it already known, but it’s worth mentioning again):

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd is scheduled for release on PS3, PS Vita and PSN on November 18th, 2014 in North and Latin America and November 21 in Europe and rest of the world.
