Phantasy Star Portable 2: Infinity’s Multiplayer Servers Closed

PSP2i

Online game servers for Phantasy Star Portable 2: Infinity were closed on the 29th of September in Japan. The announcement for this closure was actually made three months ago in June. Downloadable content will still be available, but multiplayer online features are discontinued.

Phantasy Star Portable 2: Infinity released in Japan on February 24, 2011. That means the game’s servers saw more than four and a half years of activity. It’s often in the nature of the modern Phantasy Star games that there’s always someone out there interested in playing; activity on such sites as PSOWorld is a testament to that! While Phantasy Star Portable 2 was released outside of Japan, Infinity was not.

Moving forward, Sega seems to be putting their efforts towards Phantasy Star Online 2′s PlayStation 4 version and the animation project, rather than other Phantasy Star subseries or spinoff titles.
