Over at the official Sony PlayStation blog, Atlus U.S.A./SEGA of America PR manager John Hardin commented on the possibility of seeing remastered versions of Valkyria Chronicles 2 & 3, and a possible localization for Valkyria: Azure Revolution. We thought it might be worth sharing the information here, as our readers are no doubt interested in this as well. Read on for a few quotes from Hardin, taken from the comments section on the blog.

And because I know the question is coming anyways, I’ll just go ahead and say it: we don’t know anything about bringing over remastered ports of VC2 or a localized/ported VC3 🙁

That’s not saying that it’s impossible for VC2/VC3 in the future, it’s just not planned. And for those of you keeping track of Valkyria of the Azure Revolution, we don’t have any news on that front either, but it’s definitely on our radar!

While the lack of plans for VC2 and VC3 remasters is unfortunate (although not unexpected), it’s certainly good to hear that Valkyria: Azure Revolution is on SEGA of America’s radar. Regarding a question from saveur expressing his disappointment that there was no Valkyria: Azure Revolution demo included with the release of Valkyria Chronicles Remastered, Hardin states it was actually considered at one point. Saveur also mentioned that Valkyria Chronicles is “one of the very few games to ever reduce me to fetal-position shower-sobbing”, something which Hardin also commented on:

NP! We were initially talking about including the AR demo included as well, but as you can see, it didn’t happen. 🙁

And yeah, right there with you about the sobbing bit. Except I was playing during my lunch break at work. That was awkward. :\

Those who played Valkyria Chronicles know what part of the game they’re talking about. As for the Azure Revolution demo, logic dictates that it could only have been included if SEGA of America had already been certain that they would be localizing the game, and evidently that’s not the case. But given that the Azure Revolution demo received a somewhat mixed reception from the fans, perhaps it’s for the best that it wasn’t included. The game will be receiving a second demo in Japan later this year, which should also bring improvements to the gameplay based on feedback from the first demo.

Our thanks go to John Hardin for taking the time to answer questions from the fans!
