Bayonetta Has Been Added to the Xbox One Backward Compatibility List

Bayonetta Xbox One Retro-Compatible

MIcrosoft has updated its list of backward compatible Xbox One games, and it includes SEGA and PlatinumGames’ Bayonetta. Over a year ago, SEGA has already confirmed that the game would be made backward compatible, and now we’re finally seeing the result of that. At the time of release Bayonetta received very favorable reviews on Xbox360 and PS3 (although SEGA’s PS3 conversion was criticized for its poor performance).

Although it’s often referred to as a commercial failure, the game still went on to sell 1.1 million copies worldwide. A number that plenty of other SEGA games never managed to reach. The sequel was picked up and published by Nintendo for the Wii U, and it’s therefore unlikely to ever appear on any non-Nintendo platform. Along with Vanquish, the original Bayonetta is a much requested PC port from fans, so hopefully it will eventually make its way to that platform.
