Phantasy Star Online 2’s New Update Includes the Persona 5 Collaboration Event

Persona 5 X PSO2 Collaboration

Phantasy Star Online 2‘s next update, scheduled for December 21, includes a new AC Scratch called “Phantom & School Life” as part of the Persona 5 collaboration event that was announced some time ago. It includes outfits for the Persona 5 Protagonist, Ann Takamaki, Makoto Niijima, Futaba Sakura, and Joker, in-game Persona 5 posters, music, a Persona Summoning Lobby Action and an Arsène Figure Room Item.

The update will also bring a New Raid Boss Quest for 12 Players. The first part of the quest involves a chase sequence (also shown in the trailer at 2:30), while the second part comprises the actual boss fight. A new pet called Redoran will also be added, along with new weapons. You can see all of the above in the video below.

Phantasy Star Online 2 was scheduled to be released in North America in 2013, with a playable demo present at PAX 2012. Since then, we have heard very little in terms of official comments from SEGA regarding the game’s localization. Earlier this year, SEGA Europe stated that Phantasy Star Online 2 is a game that they would “love to bring to the West”, but also admitted that they “cannot definitively say it’s coming”. As unlikely as it seems that the game would still be heading West at this point, people are actually playing The Last Guardian and Final Fantasy XV now, so who knows… Meanwhile, fans have resorted to playing the Japanese version of the game via an unofficial English patch.
