Puyo Puyo Tsu Coming to Japanese Nintendo 3DS eShop! Local Battles Included!

On August 3rd in Japan, Puyo Puyo Tsu will be available for purchase on the Japanese Nintendo 3DS eShop, per an announcement from SEGA of Japan. It will cost 800円. This release of Puyo Puyo Tsu is independent from the recent inclusion of 3D Puyo Puyo Tsu on the SEGA Reprint Archives Volume 2 (known as the Sega 3D Classics Collection in the Americas), which released in Japan last December and in the Americas last April.

The 3DS eShop release will include a new handful of new features compared to the original release. First, there is “Tournament Mode” wherein the player will be challenged to face off against a variety of Puyo Puyo franchise characters, articulated by way of ascending a tower. Players can also save a replay one of their games, and can create a save state for one-player games from which reloading and resuming play is possible at any time.

Another significant addition is the ability to play against another player locally, as long as two players both have Puyo Puyo Tsu downloaded onto their 3DS! An important feature for a game for which competitive play is part of its legacy. Additional features include button configuration for clockwise and counter-clockwise rotation, difficulty settings, and changes to the use deployment/receiving of Garbage.

There is less than a week left until the game releases in Japan!
