Odin Sphere Leifthrasir Demo Released in Japan, New Game Modes Revealed

Atlus have launched a demo for Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, the HD remake of the original Odin Sphere on the Japanese PlayStation Store. The demo was made available simultaneously for PS3, PS4 and PS Vita. It doesn’t feature any content from the actual story mode of the game. Instead, it lets you play through various stages with the five main characters, and fight the boss “Belial” at the end.

For those interested, we downloaded the demo and uploaded the game’s opening sequence in 1080P to our Youtube channel. The game looks gorgeous in 1080P and 60fps on the PlayStation 4, so it’s well worth a look. You can find the video after the break!

New Gameplay Trailer for Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir Features Velvet

Last month, Atlus and VanillaWare posted a character trailer for Velvet, one of the playable characters in Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir. For more information on that, and some details about the character’s background story, take a look at our article here. As a follow-up to that trailer, Atlus has now posted a new gameplay trailer for Velvet. As shown in the trailer, Velvet has a graceful fighting style, using a chain called Gravryl to launch attacks against her enemies. Her more powerful attacks may take up the entire screen (as you can see towards the end of the video). We included the trailer below.

Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir is scheduled to be released on January 14 in Japan for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita. A release in North America is planned in 2016.

Symbiotic and functional interaction between companies and their fans is always a good thing to see, and this campaign yielded a pretty cool result.

In addition to this, Atlus has also published a couple of new trailers to promote Odin Sphere Leifthrasir. The first one I’ve attached is a short but cool comparison demo between Leifthrasir’s PS2 and PS4 versions. Leifthrasir is a remake of Odin Sphere for the PS2, which is being redeveloped for the PS3, PS4, and Vita. The second video demos Oswald, one of the story leads, and his fighting capabilities.

Atlus has launched a new Twitter campaign to gauge interest in an 8-bit browser game based on Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir. The game will only be made available if fans manage to send out 28,880 tweets by November 30th. New Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir Character Trailers for Velvet and Oswald

Atlus has posted the remaining playable character trailers for Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, featuring Velvet and Oswald. If you missed the other trailers, take a look at our previous articles for the Gwendolyn’s video and the Cornelius and Mercedes video.

The first trailer features Velvet, who is the surviving princess of the destroyed kingdom of Valentine. After fleeing from her kingdom, she became known as the “Forest Witch”. Her role in the story involves piecing together prophecies and preventing the end of the world. She dislikes her father, Odin, because of his actions leading to the death of her mother. The second trailer features Oswald, who serves the Fairy Kingdom of Ringford and is a human adopted by the Fairy Queen’s nephew, Melvin. He is seen as a Shadow Knight who places little value on his life.

Odin Sphere Leifthrasir will be released on January 14, 2016 in Japan and somewhere in 2016 for the Americas on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita.

You can watch the two videos below!

The second trailer features Mercedes, Princess of Ringford, who must assume leadership over her nation when her mother dies in battle. She must then lead them into battle against the Demon Lord Odin, the one responsible for killing her mother. You can watch both trailers below.
