HORI Developing PlayStation 4 Controller for Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X HD (update: Future Tone)

We’ve learned through fansite mikufan, reporting by way of hokanko-alt, that gaming hardware developer HORI, known for such things as their controllers and arcade sticks for fighting games, is developing a special arcade-inspired “Mini Controller” for Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X HD on the Playstation 4.

Check out a preview image for the controller above. It comes with all of the inputs associated with a traditional PS4 controller, but with enlarged face buttons and a directional pad alongside two control sticks to capture the feeling of playing the game in an arcade.

There’s a possibility that the mini controller might work with Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA: Future Tone (if at least because it’s not been officially deconfirmed,) but there’s no word on that matter yet.

Update: The Rakuten listing below suggests that this Mini Controller is compatible with Future Tone! Forgive your negligent article author. 🙁

Preorders are open at places like Rakuten and Amazon.jp. Its price – ¥14,018 with tax – is at the same price or slightly lower than what several arcade sticks retail for. Release date for the Mini Controller is set for August 25th: the same date of Project DIVA X HD’s release in Japan.
