Puyo Puyo Chronicle Gets Its First Trailer, Official Website and Gameplay Details!

SEGA of Japan has released a new website and the first trailer for Puyo Puyo Chronicle on the Nintendo 3DS! The game’s story starts with Arle and Carbuncle discovering a strange book that ends up transporting them into a different world. There they meet a girl named Allie who for some reason refers to Arle as a “hero”. From there, Arle and Carbuncle will have to struggle to find get back to their original world.

The trailer introduces the game’s RPG mode, which as the name suggests allows players to control Arle and walk around in a colorful 3D world, meeting characters and accepting various quests. A new battle system called “Skill Battle” is also introduced, where you can use a team of several characters in battle. Characters will also be able to level-up like in a traditional RPG. There’s also a “Boss Battle with Everyone” mode, featuring cooperative play with up to four people in local play.

A special limited edition to commemorate Puyo Puyo’s 25th anniversary will be released on December 8 for the Nintendo 3DS. It will contain a special soundtrack, vocal tracks, drama CD, and a 25th anniversary Nintendo 3DS theme. It will also be shipped in a limited edition box, and will only be available in limited quantities. SEGA notes that the content and design of the Anniversary Edition shown in the screenshots isn’t final.

The information above was retrieved from the official website and this 4gamer article. Gematsu has a full translation of the information on the new Puyo Puyo Chronicle website, so I’d like to refer you to their article if you’re looking for more information! Ok, so they are taking the concept from Puyo Puyo Box, not really sure if that game did any good for Compile as it was one of their lasts. I had a Project Diva Mirai déjà vu looking at the trailer lol
