Legend of Legacy Avalon

The Legend of Legacy EU Release Date: February 5, 2016

NISAmerica has recently announced a release date of February 5, 2016 for The Legend of Legacy, the 3DS turn-based RPG developed by FuRyu. Both physical and digital copies will be available for purchase. The game came out in North America a couple of weeks ago, if you weren’t aware (I have my copy, and started the game by choosing Bianca!)

NISAmerica also uploaded their own version of a character introduction trailer to their YouTube channel. This one features Bianca and Meurs. Functionally, it’s the same as what we’ve seen before, as it shows you clips of a character walking around, some battle scenes, and a couple of character-specific cutscenes. You can check it out after the break.

Legend of Legacy Liber

Legend of Legacy Character Trailers – Garnet and Liber + Recent Twitch Stream Footage

AtlusUSA’s new character trailer for The Legend of Legacy  shows off two very different personalities. Liber is the Treasure Hunter, a “spirited scavenger with a taste for adventure.” Without a care in the world save for himself, he ventures to Avalon for money. In his battle segments we see him lay waste to enemies with his bow and arrow techniques. As a party member, Liber lends himself to a supporting role. Garnet is the Templar, a “loyal knight of the Holy Order.” Unlike Liber, she is highly committed and not so carefree. Garnet travels to Avalon to weed out those spreading rumors of gods dwelling among the living…but one has to wonder about the details in such situations as these. Garnet’s battle footage show her ramming through enemies with a shield and attacking enemies with a two-handed sword, and as a party member she’s designed to be a balanced fighter.

Additionally, members of AtlusUSA’s PR team streamed themselves playing the game this Wednesday for about an hour and a half. The footage has been uploaded to YouTube. Check it out below if you missed it, or if you’d like a chance to really immerse yourself in the game! If you want a fresh experience, you might not want to watch for too long. Especially if you plan on trying out Garnet’s scenario, which was the one chosen for the stream.

Legend of Legacy: Bianca and Meurs English Character Trailer

AtlusUSA has begin rolling out English trailers for Legend of Legacy, the turn-based battle RPG set to release in October for North America and in 2016 for Europe. This trailer covers two of the seven main characters that can be chosen before the game begins.

By the way, the music that you hear playing throughout the trailer is one of the game’s battle themes.

Meurs is the Elementalist, a “Traveler with the Spirits as His Guide.” As an Elementalist, Meurs is ventures to Avalon to understand why the elements (fire, wind, water, and darkness) have begun to concentrate in Avalon. Bianca is the Girl With Amnesia, a “Gentle Soul in Search of Her Past.” Soft in demeanor yet strong in spirit, Bianca believes that Avalon holds the answers to her questions about her identity.

You will be given an “initial party” of two companions besides the character you select depending on the character you choose as your main character for the game. Your party can be further customized as you progress through Legend of Legacy. The main character chosen apparently also impacts certain focal points of the story; while all characters will experience events from the main campaign, each character will have certain story experiences of sorts that are specific to them.

The trailer demos the two characters exploring the overworld and some of their attack animations. Watch it after the break!

Atlus Talks at Length About Their Franchises and Upcoming Releases in Extensive Interview

In an interview with godisageek.com, Atlus’s John Hardin reaffirms their plans to release Persona 5 in 2015 for North American gamers. Incidentally, they also acknowledge that Europe has in the past seen releases that lag behind North America to varying degrees (Shin Megami Tensei IV!)

The interview offers a variety of other tidbits. For example, Persona 4: Dancing All Night is canonical. Hardin also offers some thoughts on the impact of voice acting on the localization process and the delicacy of changes in voice actors for a character. He also speaks at length about the Etrian Odyssey series and comments on the necessity to provide review copies as early as possible to reviewers (especially for lengthy RPG’s like the Etrian Odyssey series.)

Atlus also mentions that they are working on bringing Stella Glow and Legend of Legacy to North America. The company is excited to be handling these projects, and considering Atlus’s tendency to keep an eye out for RPG’s with old-school sensibilities in their blood (especially so with Legend of Legacy, which is frequently compared to the SaGa series from Square-Enix) this makes sense. A first-print edition of Legend of Legacy with certain physical bonuses may be in the works, too.

One of the most interesting exchanges in the interview involves Hardin’s personal philosophy on DLC, towards the end of the article. He spends a lot of time elucidating his rationale regarding certain talking points on the issue of how companies and consumers handle DLC. In essence. In general, Hardin takes an affirmative stance on how DLC tends to be handled and is skeptical of certain criticisms of DLC practices.

I’d love to hear what other people think about his ideas on DLC! It’s a long interview and quite substantive, so please check it out.

Legend of Legacy Releases on October 13th in North America With Launch Edition

Atlus has announced that FuRyu’s 3DS RPG Legend of Legacy will be in stores and eShop on October 13th in North America. The first print of the retail edition is a “Launch Edition”, which contains a 40 page hardcover artbook featuring pictures and sketches from Tomomi Kobayashi (SaGa) and a 10 track soundtrack CD composed by Masashi Hamauzu (Final Fantasy XIII). Both bonuses are housed in a collector’s box.

Legend of Legacy’s story is told through the perspective of seven adventurers as they set out to explore the island of Avalon. The battle system features classless combat, where each party member can change to a specific role when needed as opposed to sticking to a single job.

NIS America is bringing the game to Europe in 2016. No word if this region will see a Launch Edition too. It will be available for a physical retail copy and digital copy.

UPDATE: Atlus posted a preview of the artbook, which you can see here.

Legend of Legacy Coming to Europe Early 2016

NISAmerica announced that they’ll be localizing FuRyu’s the Nintendo 3DS title Legend of Legacy for Europe. This is in keeping with their pattern of assisting with the distribution of such titles as Lost Dimension and the Etrian Odyssey games. They’re also maintaining their consistency in providing a physical and digital release.

You may remember our article on the announcement of Legend of Legacy’s North American localization. Everything between the North American and the European localization seems to be the same – down to the “balance adjustments” previously teased by Atlus. It’ll be interesting to see just what those balance adjustments will be.

The game is tentatively set to come out for Europe early in 2016. (While there seems to be some confusion based on stricter interpretations of NISAmerica’s press release, it’s been apparently confirmed that “winter 2016” means “early 2016.”) Keep in mind that Etrian Odyssey Untold 2: The Fafnir Knight is set for February 12 of next year. So perhaps Europe might get Legend of Legacy in March or April? March wouldn’t be too wild of a guess; Legend of Legacy and the Etrian Odyssey series, while both “niche” titles, do not play the same at all.

Meanwhile, Atlus is planning to release Legend of Legacy in North America later this year.
