Project DIVA X Gets Release Date and New Trailer

SEGA has announced that their next Project DIVA game, Project DIVA X, will be released on March 24, 2016 in Japan for the price of 6,990 yen (excluding tax). The official website for the game has also been updated. Those who preorder the game will get an Arcade Aime Card, allowing you to store data from arcade games.

Available separately is a “Hatsune Miku -Project DIVA- X accessories set” for 3,840 yen, containing a pouch and cleaning cloth for your PS Vita (with an illustration by KEI).

SEGA also made a new trailer available, which we included below. The trailer shows gameplay of four of the previously announced songs: “Strangers”, “Raspberry Monster”, “Slow Motion” and “Patchwork Staccato”. Gematsu noted the trailer was (is?) region locked, but I don’t appear to have any problem viewing it. Let us know if it’s blocked in your region.

It’s worth noting that the new trailer shows what SEGA had announced before: the game’s PV’s focus on showing a “live” performance from Miku on a stage. Previous Project DIVA games had more ambitious videos that involved a lot of different scenes and told an actual story (like “Akatsuki Arrival” and one of the possible variations of “Kagerou Daze” in Project DIVA F 2nd). As it stands, Project DIVA X won’t feature any of these. I’m inclined to think that this was done for budget reasons, but it can be argued that the more complex songs made it more difficult to focus on the gameplay. Take a look at the trailer below, and let us hear your thoughts on the matter! We also included four screenshots of the songs mentioned above.
