Sakura Wars X Granblue Fantasy - Prologue

Sakura Wars X Granblue Fantasy: Prologue Video

The Sakura Wars X Granblue Fantasy crossover event has ended, but we’ve recorded the story parts of the event, and are in the process of uploading them to our Youtube channel. The videos feature official English subtitles, as the Japanese version of Granblue Fantasy actually has the option to change the game’s language to English.

At the moment we’ve upload the prologue, which you can watch below. The remaining parts feature a story arc for Sakura, Gemini and Erica and an epilogue. The story in itself and the presentation is admittedly unremarkable, but nonetheless appears to be canon, as it’s set after the events of Sakura Wars 5. And even if it’s in a non-SEGA mobile game, seeing these characters reunite again means it’s well worth a look for fans of the franchise. The story starts out in Tokyo where Gemini and Shinjiro have joined Erica, Ogami and Sakura at the Imperial Academy, and details how they end up in the world of Granblue Fantasy. Stay tuned for the other parts of the story (next up will be Sakura’s story arc)!

Why can’t sega have a similar localization policy?? I can’t believe this is released in English at the same time it’s released in Japanese, and it looks quite text heavy tbh

About “canonicity”… I’m from the opinion that dead characters don’t reapear in canon stories xD and the same way I don’t see Project x Zone canon, I will not see this, but I’m still going to enjoy it!

In retrospect I probably shouldn’t have mentioned the “canon” point. What I meant was that some effort appears to have been made to make this fit within the timeline of the series. I’d like to think that they’re going somewhere with this (with that I mean the five characters reuniting back in Tokyo). But even if it would technically fit the timeline, this story can safely be ignored as nothing really changes. Much like with Project X Zone, it’s just an occasion to see these characters interact again.
