Sonia Shining Resonance Blade Arcus

Blade Arcus from Shining EX Official Website is Up

Sega has published a new webpage promoting Blade Arcus from Shining EX under their umbrella of Shining games websites. It features screenshots of the game, the story’s premise (revolving largely around the two new characters Pairon and Ryuuga,) character bios and “battle style” descriptions for the 14 characters that are currently confirmed for the game, and a preview of the Limited Edition contents.

The image above is what Sega used to tease Shining Resonance’s Sonia and her arrival to the game; she will be accessible to those who purchase the first print copies of the game. Beyond that, it’s not known if she will be made available in any other form.

Shining Blade Arcus EX

Blade Arcus from Shining EX Coming to PS4, PS3, Shining Resonance’s Sonia in Tow

This week’s Famitsu has revealed the first console port of the Blade Arcus from Shining series, to be titled “Blade Arcus from Shining EX.” The game is coming to both Playstation 4 and Playstation 3, which is in keeping with Japanese developers’ greater adoption of the Playstation 4 as a platform moving forward. It is set to release on November 26, and is receiving both a standard edition (¥6,990) and a limited edition (¥9,990.) The limited edition includes a Shining Heroine art book, a special art box designed by Tony Taka (current Shining series artist), Shining Blade OST, Shining Ark character songs, and a Heroine swimsuit calendar.

First print copies of all Blade Arcus from Shining EX will include a code for a new playable character – Sonia from Shining Resonance. Sonia is one of the more popular characters from Shining Resonance, so it is not too surprising to see her here. Other new characters are set to come to the game too, though it’s not specified if they’ll be revealed in the months leading to the release, and whether or not they’ll be on the disc or featured as DLC.

Beyond that, this game will feature all of the characters available in the most recent version of the game, which was scheduled for a summer release in arcades.

Blade Arcus isn’t a major name in fighting games in Japan, though it is consistently supported. Arcades may be dwindling in japan, but they still remain a strong social force and can be a great place to get in long hours of practice. Console versions of fighting games are typically expected to sell to passionate high-level competitors of a certain game in Japan. Let’s see how this does.

Shenmue 3 Kickstarter Ends With a Record-Breaking $6.33 Million

The Shenmue 3 Kickstarter has concluded, and has now set the record of most funded video game on Kickstarter on a whopping $6,333,295 million, contributed by almost 70,000 backers. This means the total funding amount is more than triple the original $2 million goal of the Kickstarter. It’s a remarkably achievement, especially if you consider that this is the sequel to a game that was released more than ten years ago. On top of that, in North America Shenmue 2 wasn’t even released on the Dreamcast, and fans had to import the EU version or wait for the Xbox port of the game to continue the story.

Shenmue 3 Lake of the Latnern Bugs

Shenmue III: Lake of the Lantern Bugs Trailer, KS Ending in Less than Three Days

YsNet uploaded a short, new trailer to promote Shenmue III to the official Shenmue III YouTube account ahead of the Kickstarter‘s impending closure. We’re now at just three days left (read: <3….or </3) to donate – if you haven’t already done so and want to contribute, be sure to stop by the Kickstarter page! The physical PS4 copy is now an option at the $60 tier, an update that was made quite a while ago. Be assured that the Kickstarter will certainly hit $5 million, in my opinion. At this point, it’s about if you want to contribute or not, and how much you want to contribute! Do note that electing to contribute will allow backers to offer opinions when Ys Net solicits them during the development process.

The trailer itself shows Ryo and Shenhua at a night scene. Ryo, while catching up to Shenhua, notices a firefly, and as he approaches the lake he witnesses a mass gathering of light around Shenhua. It’s the presence of a mass gathering fireflies, and it also serves to highlight the lighting work in-game and offers another work-in-progress look at the character models, to which Yu Suzuki is paying particular attention. Shenmue 3 Physical PS4 Copy Confirmed, Awesome Japan Issues Apology

The Shenmue 3 Kickstarter page received a new update today, announcing a new PS4 physical copy reward. Those who pledge $60 or more will have the option to choose between a digital or physical copy of the game for either the PC or PS4. Before, only the PC version had an option for a physical copy. This has been one of the top requests from fans, so it’s good to see the option is finally there. Other new rewards have been added as well, though the high cost will probably put them out of reach for the majority of people.

In the same update Awesome Japan, the company managing the Shenmue 3 Kickstarter, has also posted an apology for the recent Twitch stream with Yu Suzuki. The Twitch stream in question suffered from bad audio and video quality, and the presentation itself left a lot to be desired. The company had this to say:

We offer our sincerest apologies for last week’s Twitch broadcast and any trouble it may have caused. This apology comes late, and we accept full responsibility. We promise we will do everything we can to help bring Shenmue back. We ask for your forgiveness and the opportunity to make amends. – from all of us at Awesome Japan

Pledges for the Shenmue Kickstarter had been going relatively slow over the past week, but the new rewards have given it a considerable boost, pushing the total pledge amount over $4,000,000. It’s also probably not a coincidence that this update went live just when the Shenmue fans had organized their recent Tweetathon on the 3rd of the month. In fact, Awesome Japan had called on its backers to join the Tweetathon. Additionally, the fans had also launched a new initiative to boost pledges by asking people to add $30 more to their initial pledge today.

PlayStation Japan Updates Persona 5 Product Pages, New Hi-Res Screenshots Added

The PlayStation Japan’s official PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 pages for Persona 5 have been updated with new information and screenshots. While the screenshots have been shown before on the official website, they’re now available in a much higher resolution. It’s likely that these are still from the PS3 version, just like those on the official website, and if the resolution of the images is any indication, the PS3 version will probably run in 720P. You can take a look at the new screenshots in the gallery below. Persona 5 is scheduled for a release on the PS3 and PS4 in 2015 in Japan and North America.
