Project DIVA Arcade Future Tone - Prelude -1/6 Out of Gravity

Project DIVA Arcade Future Tone (PS4): More Details on Hairstyle Customization, Survival Mode and Website Update

SEGA of Japan have released more info on the upcoming PlayStation 4 version of Project DIVA Arcade Future Tone, this time detailing some of the additional modes that will be unlocked when you buy DLC packages. As we talked about earlier, the game will feature a free version with two songs (1/6 Out of Gravity and Weekender Girl) and a few modules, but the majority of the content will be available separately as paid DLC in the “Future Sound” or “Colorful Tone” packages. Buying either of these will also unlock additional modes, read on for more details!

DLC Purchase Benefits

When you purchase either “Future Sound” or “Colorful Tone”, you’ll get access to the “hairstyle customization features” and “Survival Course” content. We’ll discuss these in more detail below.

Hairstyle Customization Features

Project DIVA Arcade Future Tone - Hairstyle Customization 1

While previous Project DIVA games featured plenty of different hairstyles for the characters, they were always linked to the module (costume) the character was wearing. Project DIVA Arcade Future Tone changes this, as you’ll now be able to use different hairstyles regardless of the module that your character is wearing! As such, you can combine your favorite module with a hairstyle of your choosing, giving you a lot more freedom in customization your character’s looks. However, there are some limitations:

  • Each character has their own set of hairstyles, so you can’t use the same hairstyle on different characters.
  • Some modules won’t support the custom hairstyles.

Survival Course (for advanced users)

Like the Hairstyle Customization, the “Survival Course” is also a first for the Project DIVA series. Each course consists of several songs, but you only have a single life gauge that, after you clear a song, carries over to the next song (along with your combo count). Successfully completing the course is done by clearing all of its songs in succession. The songs are selected in random order, and you can only select the first song. There are several courses, and all of them will feature online rankings.

Official Website Reopening

Project DIVA Arcade Future Tone - Official Website UpdateThe official website for the game has been reopened today, with more info now available. The website now lists all of the game’s (224!) songs, divided over the three different versions of the game, which are the following:

  • “Hatsune Miku Project DIVA Future Tone Prelude” (standard version, free download)
  • “Hatsune Miku Project DIVA Future Tone Future Sound” (paid DLC)
  • “Hatsune Miku Project DIVA Future Tone Colorful Tone” (paid DLC)

The website now also lists all of the modules (more than 340) featured in the game. Interestingly, judging from the categories on the website some modules will apparently only be available when you buy both Future Sound and Colorful Tone.

Project DIVA Arcade Future Tone will be released on June 23, 2016 (as a digital download-only) in Japan. Aside from the Free “Prelude” version, the “Future Sound” and “Colorful Tone” DLC packs will each be available for the price of 3,900 yen (excluding tax). Like the Project DIVA F games, the game received a CERO C rating in Japan (ages 15 and up). There’s been no word on a possible localization of the game for the West.

Finally, I’ll leave you with some more screenshots of the game’s PS4 version.
