Sega Announces TV Anime for Phantasy Star Online 2

To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Phantasy Star Online franchise, Sega has announced that Phantasy Star Online 2 will get an anime adaption named Phantasy Star Online 2 The Animation. Little is known about the project, other than that it will have an original storyline which takes place on Earth in the near future. You can find the official website for the project here. The anime is scheduled to be released in 2016.

Of course, the announcement of the anime only reminds us of the fact that Phantasy Star Online 2 still hasn’t been released in the West. Many have given up on seeing the game localized, although Sega still hasn’t officially canceled the title. As unlikely as it may seem, we still hope to see a surprise announcement for the game.

Are you the author of the petition? Getting 1000 signatures isn’t actually half bad. I think the only thing the fans can do at this point is show that there is still interest. As we’ve noticed with Segalization though, petitions tend to be hit-and-miss. Sometimes, poorly written petitions that were launched with no preparation can gather a lot more signatures than petitions that were carefully designed, just because they were launched at the right time and mentioned in the right places. For this petition to work, it’d probably need some sort of reboot. Or maybe we need to try something else. The problem with this game now is that fans are just too pessimistic to really support a petition or anything like that. So you’d need to create something that feels like it could have a chance of succeeding.

While I am the original author, I did not create this petition. As I have explained in the official/un-official forums, It was only by the help of others who contributed to the many revisions of this petition that made it possible. I don’t know the Japanese language, and someone decided to help translate it for us. It was all thanks to the members of pso-world.com . We aren’t demanding anything from SEGA, we just want them to stay true to their word, that we are still anticipating this release. All these things were explained in the petition updates. If you honestly feel like this isn’t helping, then disregard, and by all means, find another solution.

I wasn’t trying to say this was a bad idea, or that it wasn’t helping. My apologies if it appeared that way. In fact I think it’s a well written petition. Like you said, it doesn’t make demands, it just asks for an update on the matter. I can only agree what is written there. I’ll look into writing an article looking at the situation with PSO2 and link your petition.
