SEGA of America and Europe have announced that Yakuza 6: The Song of Life will be releasing on March 20th, 2018 in the Americas and Europe for PS4. They also announced that, aside from a regular launch edition, the game will also be getting a premium “After Hours” edition:
PlayStation EU has launched their new “Big in Japan” sales, its counterpart to their PlayStation US Store’s “Golden Week” sales. It’s a very long list of games, but below you can find an overview of all of the discounted SEGA and Atlus games per system. We also included a few games from different publishers, but which have some connection to either SEGA or Atlus. Persona 5 is technically on sale as well, but in the EU the digital version has always been overpriced, and the 14% discount only brings it at the same price it was available on at launch in retail. The promotion runs until 19th July 2017.
Return to console
While we recently got a remastered version of Valkyria Chronicles for the PlayStation 4, Valkyria Revolution marks the first real return to console for the Valkyria Chronicles series. But as the game’s title already hints at, this isn’t actually a sequel to Valkyria Chronicles 3, nor is it a strategy RPG like its predecessors. Instead, Valkyria Revolution is an action-RPG which actually has very little in common with the previous games. Only the fictional mineral “Ragnite” and the legendary Valkyria themselves make a return, but even those have been altered to better fit the game’s fantasy setting.
Sega of America have uploaded a new video for their upcoming action-RPG Valkyria Revolution, featuring an interview with composer Yasunori Mitsuda and vocalist Sarah Àlainn, where they explain the creative process behind the song “Eternal Rest”.
Sega of Japan have announced Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone DX for the PlayStation 4. The game is a new version of Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone containing news songs and modules. This time around, it’s being released as a physical version, rather than the digital-only original. It contains all of the songs from the original game: the 127 songs from Future Sound, 95 songs from Colorful Tone, 12 songs from the three Encore Pack DLC add-ons. In addition, three new songs will be included, one of them being “Ghost Rule” by DECO*27.
After the recent Shenmue 3 update, where it was confirmed the game would not be shown at this year’s E3, many doubted that the game would still be able to meet its targeted release date of end 2017. In a new update on Kickstarter, Yu Suzuki has now confirmed that the game is indeed being delayed to the second half of 2018. Yu explains that “the game has become bigger and more beautiful” than he initially expected, but that they need more time to develop it. Gematsu uploaded the video with Yu Suzuki’s message to YouTube, you can view it below.
Atlus U.S.A. have announced that they will be localizing and releasing 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, which is Vanillaware’s latest title. There hasn’t been a lot of news regarding the game since it was first announced, but it looks like we’ll finally be learning more about the game soon. While not specifically mentioned in the press release, Persona Central had already pointed out earlier on that the game was briefly listed at the Atlus/SEGA E3 exhibitor page. The game had been announced for PS4 and PS Vita in Japan, though Atlus U.S.A. hasn’t confirmed any platform for the localized release. You can read the press release below, along with a few images. The newly unveiled website can be found here.
Sega of America have revealed a new promotional video for the upcoming release of Valkyria Revolution, where we take a look at the creative process behind the game’s soundtrack. The game’s soundtrack by composer Yasunori Mitsuda has received a lot of praise. In the video, he talks about his work on the soundtrack, where he joined forces with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and Sarah Àlainn, a multilingual Australian-Japanese singer. You can view the video below!
In its latest “Dev Report Vol. 3” update, the Shenmue 3 team has revealed a new character for the game, along with some basic character animation in the Unreal Development Kit. At the same time, the team also states that they won’t be present at any gaming shows this June. Instead, they want to devote their time to the game’s development instead. Many fans had hoped for the game to be featured at E3 2017, which takes place June 13-15, given that the targeted release date is still December 2017. However, given what little has been shown so far, it’s unclear if they can still manage to finish the game this year. Hopefully, we’ll get a new trailer sometime this year to give us a better indication of how far along the game is in terms of development. You can read the message from the devs below, as well as the video showing the new character.
