New Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir Character Trailers for Cornelius and Mercedes

Atlus has posted new trailers for their upcoming remake Odin Sphere Leifthrasir. After the Gwendolyn trailer released earlier, we now get two additional character trailers. These feature Cornelius and Mercedes, respectively the main character of the second and third chapter of the game. Cornelius is the Prince of Titania and in love with princess Velvet. However, they both have family members disapproving of their love, leading to Cornelius being turned into a creature called “Koopa”. The second trailer features Mercedes, Princess of Ringford, who must assume leadership over her nation when her mother dies in battle. She must then lead them into battle against the Demon Lord Odin, the one responsible for killing her mother. You can watch both trailers below.

Tatsuya Shiba Trailer for Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition

Sega has released a special trailer for Tatsuya Shiba’s introduction to Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition. He’s a very well-known character in his own regard and a rather high-profile addition to the cast. Initial impressions of the character from players and careful study of the game seem to suggest that he’s quite strong relative to the other playable cast members. As it is, he can be revived once his health bar is depleted (although only with a small amount of health restored.) Impressions of the character can change over time, but it is funny to note this considering how the character is regarded as absurdly powerful within his source material (The Irregular at Magic High School.)

Pairon VS Ryuga Blade Arcus EX

Blade Arcus from Shining EX Console Release Will Not Have Online Play

The official product page on the Blade Arcus subsection of Sega’s Shining website now lists Blade Arcus from Shining EX as 1-2 players but offline only. It’s a rather quiet and sudden revelation and it’s only recently coming to light.

Word started to spread earlier today when a fan-run Japanese Twitter account dedicated to Blade Arcus news claimed the absence of online play for Blade Arcus from Shining EX. There is a Japanese Shining PR Twitter account, but it made no public statements on online play (or the lack thereof.)

While the experience of online play can greatly vary for fighting games, omitting online play altogether is to be a part of a distinct minority as fighting games go nowadays. For those who would opt to import the game, this course of action suddenly becomes a lot less attractive since it is possible that not many prospective buyers will be within proximity to each other. Online play will also allow people to challenge others across great distances, including skilled players from Japan.

At the end of the day, we’re at the point nowadays where both offline and online play are taken as foregone conclusions for healthy fighting games with the aim of developing a following.

DFBCI Kuroko Uihara

Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition Adds Shirai Kuroko and Kazari Uiharu

At Akihabara’s Dengeki Bunko Fall Festival, new characters for Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition were revealed: Shirai Kuroko (playable) and Uiharu Kazari (support) from the A Certain Magical Index and A Certain Scientific Railgun. The announcement was teased leading up to the event by Sega.

Kuroko is the best friend of the other playable Index/Railgun representative Misaka Mikoto, and possesses the Teleportation Esper ability. Uihara is Kuroko’s friend, and she possesses the Thermal Hand Esper ability. They’re both in “Judgment”, a student-based law enforcement organization. In the image above, both Kuroko and Uihara are on the right side of the screen, with Kuroko closer to the center.

Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Ignition releases for Japan on the 17th of December for Vita, PS3, and PS4. So far four new playable characters have been announced for Ignition. There’s no word on whether or not more will be joining.

SEGA is Still “Working on Potential Solutions” to Bring the PC Version of PSO2 to the West

Recently SEGA announced they currently have no plans to bring the upcoming PS4 version of Phantasy Star Online 2 to the West, but it’s been a while since we’ve had any word from them regarding the PC version. We got several requests from our readers asking for any information regarding the PC version, so we reached out to SEGA to see if we could get an update, and got this statement from their spokesperson:

With regards to the PC version, we are working behind the scenes on potential solutions to bring it to the West. As soon as any information becomes available, we will share it.

Unfortunately, this is mostly a variation of the statements made earlier. At least it means they haven’t entirely given up on the idea of releasing the game in the West, but one has to wonder how much time they really have left. If I had to guess, I think SEGA may be looking at letting someone else publish the game in the West, much like how Asiasoft Online handles the SEA version of Phantasy Star Online 2.

Sonia Shining Resonance Blade Arcus

Blade Arcus from Shining EX Extended Trailer

Sega has put out a new trailer that summarizes Blade Arcus from Shining EX. This four and a half minute video offers a quick glance at the roster and certain features of the game, including its Story Mode and its Training Mode. The Training Mode show button inputs as is customary for fighting games, and the Story Mode features visual-novel type interactions.

Though it took quite some time, we finally have gameplay footage of Shining Resonance‘s Sonia in action! We only see her fighting for a couple of seconds, but I guess it’s something! She’ll be available for first print copies of the game; no word on if she’ll be made available through alternative methods (paid DLC.)

Blade Arcus from Shining EX is the first foray into consoles for this series of fighting games. It remains to be seen if it will be localized.
