Shenmue III Paypal Option Available – Another Chance to Assist With Development

While the Kickstarter for Shenmue III is concluded and development is underway, YsNet is still accepting additional financial contributions to assist with the development of Shenmue III. Titled the Slacker Backer Campaign, contributions here will be added to the Kickstarter total accumulated this past summer and will be collected via PayPal.

A nice feature of this campaign is that there are preorder bonuses attached to this campaign (albeit not exactly all of the same ones as before.) If for example you missed out on preordering a physical copy at $60, that’s an option here. There are English and Japanese campaign links for those who are interested. As of this article’s writing, there are exactly 100 days left to contribute. The backer count (from the time of the Kickstarter to now) is inches away from 70,000. Many Stretch Goals from before still exist, but it’s most likely that YsNet will only develop features as they track with expected donation levels, so if you’re looking for more interesting features from Shenmue III you know what to do.

There is also a new FAQ section at the bottom of the Slacker Backer pages that may offer some notes for your interest.

Additionally, I’d like to take a moment to ask our readers to consider supporting the remastering of previous Shenmue titles on avenues such as gaming forums and social media. While Shenmue III will feature some materials that can help newcomers more readily immerse themselves into the franchise, playing the first two games directly is an incomparable experience. And isn’t it desirable to spread the chance to play the games in the Shenmue franchise, at least to try them out, with as many people as possible? Shenmue is a property that Yu Suzuki, the parties involved in development (for all games,) the fans, and Sega can be proud of.

Let’s Take a Look at the Graphical Improvements for PSO2 on PS4

We knew the PS4 version of Phantasy Star Online 2 would be getting a graphical upgrade compared to the PC version, but during the recent Tokyo Game Show we got a closer look at exactly what changes Sega has been working on. The PC version of Phantasy Star Online 2 had a slider in its graphics options ranging from “Stage 1” to “Stage 5” (with Stage 5 being the highest graphics settings). The PS4 version will be running at what is essentially a new “Stage 6” setting, and that setting will also be making its way back to the PC version.

Persona 5 Delayed Until Summer 2016 in Japan, New Trailer Revealed

Atlus has announced that Persona 5, which was scheduled for a worldwide release in 2015 on PS3 and PS4, has been delayed until Summer 2016 in Japan. Atlus U.S.A. has also confirmed the game will be released in 2016 in the Americas, but no announcement has been made for the European release.

At the same time, Atlus has released a new trailer, which shows more of the game’s gameplay and story elements (we embedded the video and an unofficial translated version below). The main protagonist is shown held captive and interrogated regarding his ability to “steal hearts”. Apparently, the concept of “stealing hearts” will be an important aspect of the story. Also making an appearance are the other playable characters: the cat-like creature Morgana (who doesn’t like being called a cat), and Anne Takamaki and Ryuji Sakamoto. In the first part of the video, these three can actually be seen running off a pyramid, suggesting that we may see more of the world than just Japan this time around. There’s also talk about a mysterious subway accident which hasn’t been resolved. Aside from the usual dungeons and Persona summons that fans of the series will be familiar with, we also see some interesting gameplay elements, such as the characters entering into paintings where the gameplay then shifts to 2D side-scrolling.

Phantasy Star Online 2 on PS4 Gets Its First Trailer at TGS 2015

During the Sony Tokyo Game Show conference we got to see a short trailer for the PS4 version of Phantasy Star Online 2. While the quality of the video isn’t the best, some people are noticing an upgrade in terms of graphics compared to the PC version. It’ll be interesting to see if the PS4 engine does indeed deliver better graphics compared to the PC version running on its highest settings, and whether or not those improvements will make their way back to the PC version. I wish I had some good news to share regarding the NA/EU release, but sadly SEGA still doesn’t want to talk about it. While they explained the delay for Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice on their official blog today, the reason for the delay of Phantasy Star Online 2 is still unknown. Suffice to say, the franchise and its fans deserve better than that. But for now, you can check out the trailer for the PS4 version below (posted by Youtube user XCageGame)!

Atlus and Vanillaware Announces 13 Sentinels: Aigis Rim for Playstation 4 and Vita

A new Vanillaware game titled 13 Sentinels: Aigis Rim was shown during the SCEJA Press Conference 2015 at Tokyo Game Show. The setting is unique for the developer this time around. Usually their work produced fantasy and mythical settings. 13 Sentinels features Mecha and a contemporary design. The cast of characters appear to be high school students, and are seen in the trailer roaming around the halls and then hitting the streets of a big city in Japan. The trailer also showed off the robot but unfortunately there was not any gameplay footage.

Project DIVA Future Tone

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone Coming to Playstation 4

The SCEJA conference for Tokyo Game Show 2015 has come and gone, and there wasn’t mention of the new Project DIVA title Project DIVA X at that time. However, Project DIVA Future Tone for Playstation 4 was announced after Nagoshi had concluded his presentation.

This is a port of Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Arcade Future Tone originally for arcades. Project DIVA Arcade has actually received many revisions in its time. With Yakuza 6 being released exclusively for Playstation 4, and with other titles like Phantasy Star Online 2 (honored with a brief promotional video throughout the SCEJA 2015 conference) coming to Playstation 4, it appears that Sega is warming up to Playstation 4 exclusivity.

The game will be a digital release, and the release window right now is only specified as sometime in 2016. The announcement trailer can be seen below!

Yakuza 6

Yakuza Kiwami (Remake of First Game) Announced, Yakuza 6 Incoming

The Sony Computer Entertaiment Japan-Asia Conference has just concluded. It was a time for figures representing Sony and third-parties including Bandai Namco, Capcom, Square-Enix, Spike Chunsoft, and Koei-Tecmo to take to the stage and show off some of their future plans.

Relatively early into the conference, Sega’s Toshihiro Nagoshi came on stage to discuss some special Yakuza-related news. First, he played the trailer for Yakuza Kiwami, a remake of Yakuza 1. This remake will be an expanded version of the first game, featuring new side content and additional scenario offerings. Nagoshi mentioned that development of the first game on Playstation 2 was quite difficult, and after having released the game didn’t feel that he completed everything he wanted to do with Yakuza 1. That chance to make things right has arrived with Yakuza Kiwami!

The trailer that was played can be found after the break. Yakuza Kiwami, in keeping with Yakuza tradition thus far, will be coming out on both Playstation 3 and Playstation 4. An early promotional website is already live, and details pricing and release schedule too: ¥6,490, and January 21, 2016.

Additionally, Nagoshi went further and confirmed the development of the next mainline entry in the Yakuza series: Yakuza 6. While no additional details or media were shown during his speaking time slot at the SCEJA conference, he mentioned that more would be revealed when Tokyo Game Show 2015 opens.

Yakuza 6 will in fact be exclusive to Playstation 4 this time, deviating from Yakuza tradition thus far. It’s expected to release sometime in the fall of 2016 for Japan.
